STUDENT ELLIGIBILITY and DOCUMENTS FOR STCW COURSES

  1. Tabulated below is the eligibility for various courses at the Institute and the documents to be submitted by the applicant.

All documents to be self-attested by the applicant and the signature must be matched with Passport. The documents must be attached with the application in the sequence given in this list.

  1. As per DG Shipping Guidelines it is the responsibility of course officer to ensure that  eligibility and identity of each student is verified at the time of admission into the course.

And  the documentation is maintained for 5 years and made available for inspection.

1-BASIC SAFETY COURSE

 

  1.  Student should have passed 10th Standard and hold a valid passport.
  2. He should be more than 18 years of age and medically fit

2-STDSD

 

This course is mandatory requirement for Security Training for all Seafarers at different levels.

3-PSCRB

 

For admission to the course, seafarers must have completed approved sea going service of not less than one year or have attended an approved training course and have approved sea going service of not less than six months. Further, a seafarer must be certified by a DGS approved doctor to be in good health. They must also have completed the four basic courses covering the familiarization and basic safety training and instruction in accordance with Regulation VI/1 of STCW 1995

4-OCTF

 

This course is principally intended for candidates for certification for basic training for oil tanker cargo operations as specified in section A-V/1-1 para 1 of the STCW code as amended. The trainees shall have successfully completed approved Basic safety Training course as per STCW section A-VI/1(PST),para 2,3,Tables A-VI/1-1, A-VI/1-2(FPFF),A-VI/1-3(EFA),A-VI/1-4  (PSSR)

5- PSF

 

Candidate should have undergone training in PST,PSSR,EFA and FPFFF

Seafarers in possession of Certificates issued more than five years ago are
required to undertake Refresher Training and demonstration of competence to ensure continued maintenance of standards of competence

8-SS0

Those attending this course shall have approved seagoing service of not less than 12 months or appropriate seagoing service and knowledge of ship operations; and are likely to be designated as ship security officer.

9. PSCRB & AFF Ref and Part B Course
Candidate should havce undergone PSCRB and AFF course. He should be medically fit.
